Affirmations can be used to replace old negative thoughts with new positive thoughts.


Rules on affirmations

They have to be positive, such as ‘I am perfect just as I am

No negative statements such as ‘I don't want to be fat ‘ as the brain will pick up on the affirmation and be self defeating .


The affirmation must be in the present tense such as ‘I have a fulfilling and rewarding job ‘if you say you want a fulfilling and rewarding job (in the future) then that is how your mind will see it – in the future.


It should be a simple and direct statement. too many ifs and buts are confusing.


Do not take practicalities into account. This should be what you really want, not what your limiting mind thinks it can achieve right now.

If you reach for the moon but want the stars, you will never get further than the moon, so go for the stars at the outset.


You must believe the statement; however unlikely the outcome seems to be at the time. If you can make your mind truly believe it by repeating it and visualising it strongly as happening right now, your behaviour will follow and people will react to you accordingly.

Your intention will draw towards you what is needed.

By focusing and expecting a good outcome, you will be more open to lucky co-incidences or synchronicities , and you will be more likely to achieve what you have wished for yourself. If you do not believe it, you will miss the opportunities that come along .


Having thought up your affirmation, you must then repeat it to yourself many times a day. You can have more than one on the go at once, but make sure they complement each other.

The more strongly you feel and visualise it to yourself the sooner you are likely to achieve it.

You can change your thought patterns very effectively by using this method and changing your thought patterns, you can change your whole experience of the world and start creating for yourself the world you want.


Some examples of affirmations are ;

I am healthy and fit

I am attractive

I am at peace with myself

I am lovable/ happy / full of joy / fulfilled / just as I am

I have found the perfect job for me

I am ready to change.
