Menopause & the Endocrine system

The menopause is when a woman stops having periods and is a natural part of ageing that usually happens between 45 and 55 years old. There are three stages of the menopause , peri-menopause, menopause (one day after one year of no period) post -menopause.

At the time of menopause hormone levels do not always decline uniformly, but alternately rise and fall again.

As our ovarian hormone levels change it affects all the other glands in the body which together make the endocrine system which controls our growth, metabolism and reproduction.

Our endocrine system controls and coordinates our body’s metabolism, energy level, reproduction, growth and development, response to injury, stress, and mood.
